چکیده

Background: Dental diseases are generally caused by oral bacteria such as Enterococcus faecalis , Streptococcus mutans and sanguinis . These have resistance to synthetic drugs; thus, it is required discover new antibacterial agents. Sarang Semut ( Myrmecodia pendans ) has been empirically used a medicinal plant treat various conditions, including those pathogenic bacteria. Objective: The present study was aimed investigate the activity of extracts against E. S. Materials Methods: extracted with several solvents yield n -hexane, ethyl acetate, methanol, water extracts. Each extract combination were adjusted for assay chlorhexidine, fosfomycin, quercetin positive controls. Results: -hexane showed inhibition zone values 7.15 10.45 ppm at 1%, respectively. All could inhibit growth synergistic effects resulting from extract-fosfomycin also presented in this evaluation, strongest shown water-fosfomycin zones 28.5 mm 1%. Conclusion: demonstrated results offer alternative natural sources drug candidate.
